Millions of people who can barely make ends meet now will be forced to drop their health care insurance. This is truly one of the most hair brained idea out there and it doesn't surprise me that McCain thought it was a good idea. I hope the democrats decide to do this because they won't be in office long if they do. Let me see if we have this right, they want to tax our health insurance benefits so that they can fund free health insurance for everyone else. Oh yeah, that should go over like a lead balloon.

I think McCain told us during his campaign that he'd tax insurance. That was no big epiphany - Obama used that as leverage in swaying voters - leverage based upon a lie because he's going to do what he said McCain was WRONG for planning to do.

While this sort of bullshit may impact the Dems during the next couple of elections - the biggest problem is that we will be stuck with these fucked up policies until we're dead. It's like liberal herpes - once they stick ya with it you've got it for life.

We pay a lot for our insurance now. The thought that we will be taxed on it too is NOT something I take lightly. We have two growing kids that require medical, dental and optical care. Why should we be forced to pay more because some people choose to pay NOTHING? You think we wouldn't love to pocket that extra $400 plus per month that we pay out? (And it increases each year.) The onl;y redeeming factor of paying out that money is because we can use it as a deduction - which doesn't really mean we get the money back - it just means our taxes are a few bucks lower.

Oh and those tax breaks? The fed's are taking MORE out of our checks rather than less. So much for Obama and his friggin' change.

You just keep on supporting a PROVEN liar - you keep on looking past those dark clouds for the silver lining - but I'm tellin' you it is NOT there.

Mr. Weasle60:
Sir: you mentioned in your post, quote: "from what ive read this ins deal is one of many on the table as a solution to the health care problem "

Could you please expound on the "health care problem?" If you mean that not everyone has health insurance, not everyone WANTS health care insurance. Most of the illegals in my state simply show up at the emergency room, get whatever they need done, then leave without being charged, or, if they ARE charged, they simply do not pay, and my taxes pay it. I have never met ANYONE who could not get the care they needed. Think about this: someone has an auto accident: do the EMT's ask for insurance before they treat? probably not. Have you ever seen anyone brought into a hospital with an emergency, (like the time my heart just stopped beating, then started back up running real rough) who was refused service? probably not. .
Here is what may happen if Mr. Obama, Reid, and Ms. Pelosi get their way: The American Medical system, which is one of the best, (and unfortunately most expensive in the world due to litigation) is going to become that of a socialist nation. Personally, I do not wish to wait 2 years to see a dentist as they do in England. I do not wish to wait 4 months for an MRI to see if I have cancer, as some do in Canada. I do not wish to have someone I do not know in Washington DC tell me what Doctor I can go to, when.
I do not believe the sky is falling. I believe the uncontrolled democrats in the Government are going to screw up yet another part of America, there is nothing wrong with. Worse thing, they are going to have some Republican help to do it.
Respects

Is that tax going to be for everyone or just the ones making over $250,000? Seems like the lefties have no problem with raising taxes for the rich but what are they going to say about this deal? They just don't understand that everyone is going to be paying for the stimulus, not just the rich.

I remember when factories ( union and non union) used to pay for 100% of their employee health care packages. The first time I heard of employee supplemented packages was while working at a union shop. The reps told us "oh don't worry it's no big deal only about $25/month."

Stupid fuckers grinned and smiled while they let the company reach into their pockets. Now somebodies got their hand in their all the time so whose to blame?

They will continue to hit your pocketbook to pay for this worthless bill regardless of the "tax the rich" bullshit.    There are provisions for health care in the stimulus bill but that really is not the issue...the issue is that our defict has grown tremendously in the past few weeks and everyone that has money now will have less of it in the future in order to pay for these bills.

Ever heard the story about the Camel and the Arab?

The camel cries and whines and begs to stick just his nose into the tent to stay warm. Finally the Arab relents and lets the camel stick his nose inside the tent. Pretty soon the camel has pushed his whole head into the tent and so on until the camel's warm and toasty completely in the tent and the Arabs freezing his ass off outside.

When they started sucking us into paying for part of our own coverage it was "only $25/ mo." and that was for the best family coverage available with dental and optical.

I bet you can't even get crappy single coverage for less than $150 month now.

You can't let these sumbitches put an idea on paper. If you don't shoot them down at the get go, watch out in 10 years from now it's gonna be standard operating procedure.

I have always said that Obama will hurt those who least can afford it the most. They would not listen. Ralphie thinks he is secure with his government cheese, they will find a way to sink their governmental claws into that as well I would bet.

right...nothing wrong with our health care except that over 45 million don't have it and it is getting worse.......

WASHINGTON — Without changes in federal policy, the number of Americans without health insurance will grow from about 45 million this year to about 54 million in 2019, the Congressional Budget Office said today.

-----------------------
If you're still pissed off about the 2000 elections, GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!
Its over man.
Sharon

Sharon, you say, "It's over?"
I'll tell you what's over.

The World Trade Centers are over, because Bush ignored the warnings.
The lives of 4128 soldiers are over because Bush lied.
The health of 60,000 soldiers is over because Bush lied.

The Fourth Amendment is over, and the Sixth Amendment, and Bush set up
"Free Speech Zones" so I guess the First Amendment is over, too.
The integrity of the Justice Department is ancient history.

Diplomacy died an early death with this president.
Valerie Plame's career as a CIA spy is over and we don't know how many
CIA contacts died because Bush-Cheney wanted to punish the truth tellers.

North Korea's estrangement from making nukes is over.
New Orleans as a livable city - that's probably over.
The meters on Iraq's oil pumps - gone - so Halliburton can steal at will.

Our right to privacy is over - Bush can read our mail, read our e-mails, bug our
phones, check into our bank accounts and the library books we check out.

Bidding on government contracts is over - it all goes to Bush's friends and
they can now sell the military millions of gallons of gasoline for $10 a pop.

Non-partisan Supreme Court judges - that's a thing of the past.
The 911 Commission? That's over and they didn't blame anybody for anything.
How about our friendships with other countries - that's over

Science is over with this religiously-insane president.
He says God told him "Science is bad," so we avoid science at all costs.

The Rule of Law is over - Bush says no laws apply to him since he bungled 9-11.
A ready-to-fight military? That's definitely over.

The health of the 9-11 first responders - gone - thanks to Bush.
A stable economy? Bush destroyed that, too - it's gone for a long time.
Of course, Clinton's surpluses are loooong gone.

Mining safety laws? They were gone soon after Bush took office.
Stem cell research is gone - who needs their health when God is Risen?
Clear skies and healthy forests? Gone, and gone.

Pat Tillman, his life is over - I wonder why Bush covered up his death?
The dream that things will be better for our kids - that's over, too.
Your home being the best retirement plan? That's certainly over.

The Bush name in American politics? That's deader than Francisco Franco.
100,000 White House e-mails? Illegally destroyed - to cover up what?

The separation of Church & State - that's over.
Bush is taking MY TAXES and giving it to superstitious handjobs who support him.

Congressional oversight is dead - (but you can blame the Democrats for that.)
Medal of Freedom integrity is gone, too. Bush gave medals to Tommy Franks,
George Tenet, and Paul Bremer "for all their great work in Iraq."

Our votes being counted - that's gone, too
Oil companies paying taxes? That's gone like T-Rex.
Bush's attendence records in the Nat Guard - over or never existed?

Statue of Liberty? Still there, but meaningless in a torture-is-fun America.

Of course, some things are NOT over, like Bush's war in Iraq, Bush's war
in Afghanistan and the hostility from soon-to-be nuke-happy Iran.
And the torture - that's not over - the torture never stops under this president.
Borrowing from the Saudis to finance tax cuts for the super rich - that's not over.

As you can tell, this list could go on for a few more hours.
But you were right - "IT" is over, for most Americans.

   Commericalize, Commericalize, Commericalize.

History has proven several things. Competition improves product\service. Competition keeps down costs. The private sector is far more cost effective on almost everything they manage then anything the Government manages.

not suggesting a state run system like Canada.....but am suggesting we need to do something...it is a very complex issue...but the costs of the present system are out of control and the number of uninsured actually ad to that cost.....this is one area where the GOP and the Dems need to keep their eye on the prize so to speak and come up with some solution together.....

And the torture - that's not over - the torture never stops under this president.
Borrowing from the Saudis to finance tax cuts for the super rich - that's not over.

As you can tell, this list could go on for a few more hours.
But you were right - "IT" is over, for most Americans.

Agreed, something needs to be done. First thing is to keep the Government out of it.
Second step is a national database. Know the good Doctors from the questionable ones, from the quacks.
Currently Doctors who are barred from some States can easily move to others and open practices with little or no worry of their records following them.
Remove illegal immagrants from the dole = a major reduction in costs.
What do you think one of the biggest reasons they come to this Country is? Removing the carrot from infront of the horse should slow the flood across the border a bit. That would help to decrease some other problems as well.

Can you say "tort reform"? Get the government out of health care and keep them out. Limit the impact that "ambulance chasing " lawyers can have on the health care industry. Eliminate the need for a doctor to order 50 different tests because some clown may sue if a test wasn't run.

Seems simple but apparently it has little liklehood of happening with the lawyers and their lobbyists in DC.

Limit health care for illegals to life threatening situations only.

Offer tax breaks or incentives for established doctors to volunteer one or two days per month in a free health clinic for the indigent. Offer free schooling for doctors willing to provide 2 or 3 years of service in a free health clinic.

Lets figure a way to do this without having to tax the "evil rich" into poverty or retirement.

Many of these issues have already been brought up in the past and they were denied. Our government no longer looks at issues and makes decisions in a way that best suits/applies/helps the average middleclass taxpayer - they seek to uplift the minority and those who give less yet take more.

The issues and solutions given on this forum are probably things the vast majority of taxpayers would agree with. But we have a governemnt that makes it a point to do the disagreeable...

They appear to only make decisions based upon how it will affect their party's popularity. Interesting note in today's paper is that obambi's approval rating dropped from 64% in February to 59% now.

The honeymoon is ending and the reality that is the (extreme) left is setting in.
Those that voted for him are getting just what they voted for, change. Dang fools forgot to ask just what the change entailed.

They didn't forget to ask... These 'changes' were known - they just refused to listen. They voted with their 'hearts' instead of their minds. They did not want to acknowledge what was right in front of them because 'hope' is much easier to accept than reality at times. The reality they now face is worse than the one they could have chosen.

Hmmm .. Just how many government regulations and guidelines already exist for the medical industry? And you would like more?

I thought you said it was complicated?

Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

I suggested health care is a very complicated issue...nothing to do with just rules and regulations.....and fixing it is not a simple task.

Just take medical records as one aspect of the entire problem. Being able to properly and with appropriate security digitize records would vastly improve the system and greatly reduce costs. That is just one example.

The system is complex and finding solutions will not be easy. But I believe there is greater recognition that the issue must be addressed.

The government doing it would only cost more - it would not create new jobs and the records would probably be screwed up.
